 | Ontario Government Proposes to Phase-out the Use of Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Chillers The Minister of Environment, Laurel Broten has announced proposed regulatory amendment to Ontario’s Refrigerants Regulation which would prohibit the refill of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning with ozone depleting refrigerants. Essentially the proposed measures will require building owners to either convert or replace older industrial, commercial and institutional refrigeration and air condition units and chillers. The proposal is intended to phase-out the use of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-based refrigerants in Ontario by prohibiting the operation of all CFC-containing chillers by January 2012 |
