Shelter Allowances
The affordability problem for renter households in Ontario is an income problem, whereby incomes are too low relative to market rents. According to the the attached report, to address the gap between what renters with affordability problems can afford to pay and market rents, the Provincial Government could consider expanding the current Rental Supplement Program or introducing a shelter allowance.
