As the largest association in Ontario representing those who own, build, and finance rental properties, the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) well understands the housing needs, costs and capacities in the communities that we build across the province.
Our members, like many Ontarians and indeed, Canadians, are currently seeking to understand how we can help with the settlement process of the soon-to-arrive Syrian refugees.
Through FRPO, our membership has reached out to provincial officials and pledged to support the government in efforts they make to balance the immediate needs of those in crisis with the longer term needs of those Ontarians who wait for affordable housing.
We will share our expertise, information and resources to seek and support a process that considers the needs of Ontarian tenants as it embodies the generous Canadian values that are shared by our members: fairness, kindness, accountability and acceptance.
We look forward to leading a dialogue with the appropriate government parties and remain at the ready to respond to their call.
